Avon Area Ramblers

Walk with us

Welcome to Avon Area Ramblers

The Ramblers is Britain's biggest charity working to promote walking. It is organised into Areas and Groups.

Avon Area covers the former County of Avon. We have eight groups which organise regular walks, social activities and footpath maintenance and improvement work:

You are welcome to come along on two or three walks before joining the Ramblers - please see the websites for the separate groups or you can use the walks menu to either see all upcoming walks or use the walks finder tool to filter walks using various options (Brunel's walks are not included).

Our members also contribute to the Wessex Wanderer Railway Walks from stations along the Bristol to Weymouth line.

Avon Area AGM 2018

Come and Meet Your Fellow Avon Ramblers

Avon Area Ramblers AGM - Saturday 3 February 2018

Patchway Community Centre, Rodway Road, Patchway, Bristol BS34 5PF

We hope members, from throughout the area, will come along for some, or all of the
programme.

The community centre is easily reached by buses to, or from, the Mall at Cribbs Causeway.
There is limited free parking at the centre, and additional free on-street parking in the
adjoining roads.

Programme:

10.00 am Pre AGM Walk
An easy four-five mile walk, led by Andy Pearson. The route uses a pedestrian bridge over
the M5, continues down through Cattybrook brickworks, (more interesting than it sounds!),
along a raised walkway with good views across the Severn, then into Lower Almondsbury,
where there will be a coffee stop for those who have brought flasks. The walk concludes by
going back up the hill, (via the Garden Centre grounds), and back over the bridge.

12.30 - 1.30 pm Buffet Lunch
Tea, coffee, and a selection of sandwiches will be provided

1.30 - 3.00 pm AGM, including talk by Peter Carr, Ramblers Trustee

Any member who wishes to submit any motions for discussion at the AGM should submit
them to Jeff Rowland ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) by Friday 26 January.

Draft minutes from the 2017 AGM are available here.

The out-going area post-holders will present a report of last year’s activities, (including the
annual accounts), for approval of the membership. The report will be circulated nearer the
date.

After the AGM adopts the report, current post-holders will resign, and post-holders for
2018/19 will be elected. Any Avon Ramblers member can stand for any post.

If you are interested in standing for a post, and would like a copy of the Role Description,
please contact Jeff Rowland ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )
or Tessa Wyatt ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) by Friday 26 January, or search for ‘Area
role descriptions’ on www.ramblers.org.uk.
